Council approves marijuana dispensary ordinance
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The city council gave final approval to an ordinance regulating medical marijuana dispensaries Tuesday.
The ordinance will limit the number of dispensary permits issued by the city to three, require the three existing dispensaries to submit detailed applications and operating plans, prohibit the transfer of dispensary permits and require dispensaries to keep records of each transaction.
Councilman Bruce Grego was the lone vote against passage of the ordinance, contending it will be difficult to enforce and promotes a negative image of the city.
Mayor Hal Cole said he felt passage of the ordinance would make it easier for police and prosecutors to control violations the state’s medical marijuana law in the city.
