Council candidate provides statement

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – City Council candidate Adrian Gooch provided a statement on Friday detailing her background as well how she intends to lead the city if elected.

Gooch is one of 11 people who qualified to run for three City Council seats to be decided in November.

Gooch has lived in the South Lake Tahoe for 35 years.

She retired as a senior administrative assistant with the city earlier this year and previously operated a small business, according to her statement. She is a partner in a self-employed business, according to the statement.

“These opportunities brought awareness and understanding of how the decisions made by Council affect the public, business owners, as well as the organization,” Gooch said.

If elected, she said she intends to bring “honesty, fairness and most importantly common sense back to the forefront.”

“The community has spoken quite emphatically that they want change – I agree, it is time for change,” Gooch said. “My election platform is simple, we need to step back and return to the basics. Part of the definition of City Council is to set goals and policies – to me this means listening to the community and employees, learn as much as I can about the subject and set the policy.”
