Council election ballot count official

Michael Schneider

Every ballot for the South Lake Tahoe City Council election has been counted and there are no surprises.

Norma Gray, supervisor of the elections department, said a few absentee and provisional ballots which had been turned into polling places on Election Day have now been counted.

The final vote tally have been certified and the results are now official.

Brooke Laine, Hal Cole and Bill Crawford remained on top, padding their winning totals a bit. Laine finished with 2,251 votes, Cole 2,155 and Crawford 1,264.

Planning Commissioner Pat Frega remained the runner-up with 936 city votes.

Gray said the late ballots are a normal part of the election process.
