Council looks at salaries today

The South Lake Tahoe City Council will review and vote on an employee contract agreement today for the city’s Administrative and Confidential Employees’ Association.

The agreement calls for a 3-percent salary increase effective Oct. 1, 1999, a 1.5-percent management incentive pay for 64 or more hours of education and training, also effective Oct. 1999 and $2,000 investment into a deferred compensation or cash-out benefits for each of its 24 employees.

The agreement was drawn in good-faith bargaining practices and was recently ratified by the employees’ association.

If approved, the Administrative and Confidential group will be the second of seven city employee groups to resolve negotiations with the city. The Public Works unit was the first to reach an agreement in December.

The council meeting begins at 6 p.m., with a Redevelopment Agency meeting at 4 p.m. Both meetings will be held in the council chambers at 1900 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Also on today’s agenda:

n A resolution to support Proposition 12, the Safe Neighborhood Parks, Clean Water Act and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2000

n An ordinance to replace Chapter 10 of the city code regarding the cable television contract

n Policy regarding rates for airport advertising contracts

n A report on the status of the ice rink
