Council selects firm to lead city manager search

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe City Council selected Bob Murray & Associates to guide the search for a new city manager on Tuesday.

The City Council selected the executive search company, after President Bob Murray and a representative from Peckham/McKenney gave presentations to the Council Tuesday morning.

In January, City Manager David Jinkens announced he will retire in August following eight years with the city.

Bob Murray & Associates conducted the search that led to Jinkens’ hiring.

During his presentation on Tuesday morning, Murray said he will use his company’s extensive network of city managers to find a group of highly qualified candidates.

The task of hiring the new city manager will ultimately be up to the City Council.

Murray said he plans to present vetted resumes to the Council within 90 days.

The first step in the hiring process will be contacting each individual City Council member to determine what qualities they are looking for in a new city manager, Murray said.
