County board meetings on local stations

Tribune Staff Report

You can now catch at home what is going on in Placerville. The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors weekly meetings can be seen on local access stations.

The three cable providers will show the meetings that are tape-delayed at various times: American Cable Entertainment (Meyers/Tahoe Paradise), every day from 1 to 6 p.m. on Channel 19; Weststar (West Shore), Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. on Channel 6; and TCI (South Lake Tahoe), every day from 1 to 6 p.m. on Channel 20.

The board recently approved the videotaping system provided by a Placerville company after several meetings were recorded on a trial basis. The board is considering taping other public meetings such as the planning and transportation commissions and the El Dorado County Water Agency.

Copies of the videotapes will be available at county libraries.

“I am in hope that the availability of videotapes to the citizens of El Dorado County will lead to a reduction in the level of distrust and lack of understanding in their government,” said District 4 Supervisor Walt Shultz.
