Couple marries in beach ceremony at sunset

Amy Elizabeth Pape and Kyle Duane Anton exchanged wedding vows July 20 during a sunset ceremony on the shore of Lake Tahoe at Zephyr Cove Beach Resort. During the ceremony the bride and bridegroom exchanged personal vows, which they had written to each other. The 5 p.m. double-ring ceremony was performed by Pastor Dan Wilvers of Sierra Community Church and witnessed by 200 family members and friends.

The bride is the daughter of Deborah Chase of Genoa, Nev., and Gary Pape of Eugene, Ore., and the bridegroom’s parents are Basil and Laurie Anton of South Lake Tahoe.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a floor-length, two-piece, sleeveless white georgette chiffon gown with spaghetti straps and she wore white beach sandals. Her hair was adorned with tiny satin rosebuds and she carried a bouquet of burgundy calla lilies.

The bride was attended by her sisters, Andrea Pape of Denver, Colo., as maid of honor and Alyson Richards of Albany, Ore., as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were the bridegroom’s sister, Lisa Anton of South Lake Tahoe, Dorcha Wojtkowski of Seattle, Wash., Whitney Smith of the San Francisco Bay Area and Laurie Kates of Washington, D.C. Each attendant wore a pale pink linen sundress and flowered beach sandals and carried a bouquet of white and burgundy calla lilies.

Best man was Isaac Levine of Napa, Calif., and groomsmen were Dooley Riva and Nathan Hossman, both of South Lake Tahoe, and the bride’s brother, Justin Pape of Eugene.

Flower girl was the bride’s niece, Caroline Richards of Albany, who scattered rose petals down the aisle before the couple.

Members of the wedding party wore beach sandals and guests were welcomed with flip-flops of assorted colors to wear during the ceremony, which took place on the sandy beach.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception with toasts, dinner and dancing was hosted by the bride’s parents on the lawn behind the beach at Zephyr Cove Resort.

Special guests at the wedding were the bride’s grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Chase of Stanford, Calif., and Mrs. Shirley Pape of Portland, Ore., as well as the bridegroom’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Brad White of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, uncle Randy White of Campbell, Calif., and many aunts, uncles and cousins from throughout the United States.

Upon their return from a nine-day wedding trip to Mayan Riviera, Mexico, the newlyweds established their home at Eugene.

The bride graduated from South Eugene High School, Eugene, Ore., in 1995, and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., in 1999. She currently is a pre-medical student at the University of Oregon, Eugene.

The bridegroom is a 1994 graduate of South Tahoe High School and graduated in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Sonoma State University, Rohnert Park, Calif. He is a registed nurse in the emergency department at Sacred Heart Medical Center, Eugene.
