Court date is set in kidnapping case

Staff reports

TRUCKEE – Three suspects in an alleged kidnapping case are scheduled to appear in Nevada County Superior Court here next week.

Officers arrested the men on Oct. 30 on suspicion of – among other things – burglarizing, kidnapping and forcing a 20-year-old Truckee man to walk barefoot for approximately a mile in the snow near Boca and Prosser reservoirs.

The suspects – 20-year-old Vernon Chambers, 18-year-old Allan Laird and 19-year-old Anthony Manning, all of Truckee – are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 29 at 9 a.m.

It is unknown when the fourth suspect – a Truckee teen whose name officers will not release – will go to court.

The suspects face four felony counts, including making threats, taking personal property by means of force, first-degree burglary and making death threats.

Manning faces an additional charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
