SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Today starts the playoff push for both Whittell softball and baseball teams. Throw into the mix a battle for the one seed in the 3A girls northern regional and it makes for a busy day in and around South Lake Tahoe.

The Whittell Lady Warriors will play two games today in efforts to push through to next week’s four-team zone playoff. They will host Silver State in Zephyr Cove today. Game one starts at 1 p.m. with the second game to follow. If needed, the two teams will meet tomorrow at the same location for a decisive game three.

In South Lake Tahoe today, the Whittell Warriors baseball team will play the first of their three game set against West Wendover. That game too begins and 1 p.m. Tomorrow is games two, and three if necessary. Those games will be hosted by Whittell and played at Douglas County High School in Minden.

Game one tomorrow is set for 11 a.m.

In the afternoon show, the South Tahoe Lady Vikings will dual with league rival Truckee in a fight for the one seed, which Truckee now controls. South Tahoe needs to beat Truckee today, then travel to Sparks tomorrow and sweep two game to take the top spot in their eight-team regional.
