California police ID 3rd victim of suspect nabbed on Kingsbury Grade

BERKELEY, Calif. — Authorities have identified a man slain in Berkeley and confirmed their primary suspect is the same man accused of killing relatives in the San Francisco Bay Area before wounding an officer near Lake Tahoe in Nevada, where he was arrested.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports University of California Berkeley police officials said Monday the man shot on Friday afternoon in Berkeley’s People’s Park was 43-year-old Calvin Kelley.

Stefon Jefferson was charged Monday by prosecutors in Nevada’s Douglas County with attempted murder of a police officer.

Authorities say Jefferson is suspected of fatally shooting a relative in Oakland Friday before heading to San Francisco to kill another relative there. He was arrested in Nevada later Friday after a shootout with police.

Kelley’s relationship to Jefferson was not immediately clear.
