South Lake Tahoe police are still looking for a suspect in an alleged drive-by shooting just before midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 14, near Ski Run Boulevard and U.S. Highway 50. The shooting was initially reported to have happened around midnight on Thursday, Oct. 15.

According to South Lake Tahoe Police Department, a 19-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was shot in the leg at 11:57 p.m. on Oct. 14. The man later showed up at Barton Memorial Hospital for treatment, and medical staff notified the police.

The department reported in a news release that the victim’s condition was unknown as of Friday, Oct. 16, but his injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening.

Lt. David Stevenson said on Oct. 15 that the shooting does not appear to be a random act.

The police department reported that “the preliminary investigation shows the victim was standing near a residence in the area of Ski Run Blvd. A vehicle drove by and at least one shot was fired from the vehicle and struck the victim in the leg.” Officers located the suspected vehicle behind T.J.Maxx at the “Y” junction of Highway 50 and Highway 89. The police reported no suspect was located on scene.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department’s investigation is ongoing. The department asks anyone with information about this case to call the department at 530-542-6100 or Lake Tahoe Secret Witness at 530-541-6800.
