SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — Police officers arrested a Bay Area resident on Friday, Nov. 13, on suspicion of several felonies.

Adam Sanford, 32, of Hayward, allegedly committed multiple armed robberies near CVS Pharmacy and Tahoe Beach Retreat Hotel on Lake Tahoe Boulevard after 7 p.m.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department responded to CVS Pharmacy after receiving calls that a suspect robbed two male victims at knife- and gunpoint before running from the scene.

While officers responded to the area, the department received additional reports that the suspect fired at least one shot after robbing another two male victims behind Tahoe Beach Retreat Hotel, near CVS Pharmacy.

Two plainclothes officers on another assignment detained Sanford after they saw him walking across Lake Tahoe Boulevard toward the Safeway parking lot on Johnson Boulevard.

According to the department’s news release, officers found a loaded 9 mm handgun and two long-bladed knives while searching Sanford. The gun was reportedly stolen from Pollock Pines last month.

The department reported all four victims independently identified Sanford as a person of interest.

Sanford was booked into El Dorado County Jail on suspicion of 11 crimes, including robbery, discharging a firearm, criminal threats and violation of probation. At the time, he was on probation in Sacramento County for burglary.

According to the police department, Sanford also had three outstanding warrants in Placer County on suspicion of theft, resisting arrest and failure to appear in court.
