South Lake Tahoe police: Man arrested after threatening others with weapons

Reports of a reckless driver ended roughly five hours later with a SWAT team storming a residence and arresting an armed man with a felonious history, according to law enforcement.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department first received reports of a reckless driver speeding down Lake Tahoe Boulevard around 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 14.

While attempting to locate the suspect, police received reports of the vehicle smashing into another vehicle in a driveway near the 900 block of Macinaw Road.

By the time officers arrived on the scene the suspect had fled. According to police, victims reported the man took off into the woods after threatening them with a knife and a gun. Nobody was injured in the incident.

Officers attempted to locate the man with use of a K-9 unit but were unable to find him.

That same day, law enforcement obtained a warrant for the man’s arrest. Due to the situation and the suspect reportedly being armed, the South Lake Tahoe SWAT Team entered the man’s home in the 2600 block of Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

Police found the man inside and arrested him.

The 44-year-old man was booked into the El Dorado County jail on assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and felon in possession of a firearm.
