SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — An updated forensic sketch of a young adult male suspected of committing three assault incidents against women was released on Aug. 3. The sketch was created using descriptions by the victim of an attempted sexual battery at Lakeland Village on July 25.

The three assaults took place over the last year, and officials at the South Lake Tahoe Police Department have noted several similarities, some of which are being withheld to safeguard investigative efforts.

“Although we are uncertain of a connection at this point, the suspect description, methods of operation and victim profiles are similar enough to merit this public notice,” said a release Thursday, July 28, by the department.

In the July 25 assault, a Hispanic male grabbed a woman in the laundry room of the Lakeland Village condominium complex at 3535 Lake Tahoe Blvd. He attempted to drag her into a vacant storage closet. The victim resisted and was able to escape, but the suspect made off on foot with her purse.

The next day, another woman was approached by a Hispanic male on a dark-colored BMX bike while in the driveway of her Ski Run Boulevard residence. The suspect told the woman he was 18 years old and his name was Robert, according to police. The woman told the suspect that her family was inside the house, and he left quickly. She was able to complete a composite sketch with a forensic artist, which was released on July 28.

Police officials said a similar incident was reported last October when a female walking on Park Avenue encountered a Hispanic male on a bicycle who told her he had a gun and to come with him. The victim ran away.

In all three cases, the suspect is described as an 18- to 30-year-old Hispanic male, roughly 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a small to medium build, medium-length dark hair and no facial hair.
