Crime prevention conference in Carson Valley next week

Staff reports

MINDEN, Nev. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is supporting a crime-prevention conference in Minden for all area property managers next week.

The free conference is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 13 at Carson Valley Inn, at 1627 U.S. Highway 395.

The conference includes a three-phase law enforcement-based crime prevention program designed to help keep illegal activity out of rental properties, according to a statement from Lake Tahoe Crime Fee Coordinator Melanie Raulston-Arnold.

Anticipated benefits include reduced law enforcement calls for service, a more-stable resident base and reduced exposure to civil liability, Raulston-Arnold said.

Reservations for the program should be made to Raulston-Arnold by Jan. 10 by e-mailing or calling 775-790-6694.
