KITZBUEHEL, Austria – Didier Cuche had the fastest time in World Cup downhill training, which was marred by a crash involving Austrian skier Hans Grugger.

The Swiss downhill champion finished the Streif course in 2 minutes, 1.12 seconds Thursday to lead Christof Innerhofer of Italy by 0.37. Georg Streitberger of Austria was third in Kutzbuehel, Austria.

Bode Miller of the United States and Klaus Kroell of Austria were next.

The training session was interrupted for more than half an hour after Grugger crashed. He was airlifted to a hospital for surgery after sustaining a brain contusion and chest injury.
