CVS acquires Longs Drugs
August 12, 2008
Longs Drugs stores on the South Shore will be going by a new name: CVS Caremark.
CVS Caremark Corp. acquired Longs Drug Stores Corp. on Tuesday for $2.9 billion, including the assumption of net debt.
Longs Drugs had 521 stores in Arizona, Hawaii, California and Nevada, including two stores in South Lake Tahoe.
Anne Moulin, spokeswoman for CVS Caremark, said the noticeable change would be a different logo, but current Longs workers would not lose their jobs. The change is just a transfer of ownership.
