The Tahoe Art League invites the public to view a watercolor painting demonstration by Dale Laitinen, at the monthly meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center.

A painter with more than 40 years experience, Laitinen is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and Watercolor West. He is a graduate of Modesto Junior College and holds a BA in Art from California State University, San Jose, with a concentration in painting.

Laitinen is a past juror of many national and regional exhibitions including Watercolor West, Kentucky Watercolor Society, Utah Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of Oregon, Red River Watermedia Show, Magnum Opus and many others. In addition, his work has been featured in several periodicals including The Artist’s Magazine, Watercolor Magic, Watercolor Magazine, and Drawing Board Magazine.

A native of northern Minnesota, Laitinen has lived and traveled across the American West, which has had a prominent influence in his work. One of the signatures of his work is painting with a long view with the natural forms of topography being foremost. His works extend to the interaction between structures, such as roads, dams and canals, with the natural landscape.

The Tahoe Art League meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe. For more information, visit http://www.talart.org/.
