Dancers qualify for nationals

The Dance Vision’s dance team sparkled at the recent Spotlight Dance regional competitions that took place in Carson City. The team’s high scores qualified them to compete at the Spotlight National Championship scheduled this summer at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas.

The team won 12 top-place, diamond awards, the most achieved by any dance team at the competition. The top prize for Highest Overall Score was awarded to Dino Elias and Olivia Mason for “The Llama Swing,” technical skill awards went to Ali Rothman and Kevin Novotny for “The Devil in Disguise,” Olivia Mason for “Die Another Day” and Kenna Lincoln for “Skin.” Jr. Miss Spotlight went to Olivia Mason and Sr. Miss Spotlight to Kenna Lincoln. Most Photogenic, junior and senior category went to Milana Mason and Kenna Lincoln, respectively. Best Overall Group went to the Mini team, performing “It’s a Hard Knock Life.” Showmanship Award went to Riana Cerceo for “Tango With Me,” Best Entertainment went to the Boys team for “Hardball,” and Suzie Elias in “I just Can’t Wait To Be King” received the Smashing Smile Award. The senior team’s “Push the Limits” won in the jazz group category and their “Come Baby” routine won the best costume award.

These dancers continue to work hard to prepare for the national finals this summer. Thanks to Safeway, Raley’s, Embassy Suites and Chevys for sponsoring the fund-raising efforts of the team.
