Dancers win awards

Dance Visions Dance Team competed in the Dance USA Regional Competition June 4-5 in the Golden Phoenix Showroom in Reno. Winning titles as well as Platinum Scores at the competition were Suzie Elias, Petite Miss Dance of Nevada; Riana Cerceo, Junior Miss Dance of Nevada and a National Dance Team award; and Becca Lincoln, Miss Dance of Nevada and a National Dance Team award. Jessica Wahl was first runner-up for Teen Miss Dance of Nevada.

In the Novice Division, receiving Platinum Scores were Whitney Gardner and Lexi Brooks. Gold Scores were received by Alexis Arens, Madeline Feldman, Carleigh Dauscher and Casey Simon. A Silver Award was given to Nicki Simon. Dance Visions swept the top high score awards in the Novice Solo Division with Whitney Gardner receiving a 1st High Score Overall and the Future Star Award. A 2nd High Score Overall was awarded to Alexis Arens and 3rd High Score Overall to Lexi Brooks. Madeline Feldman was awarded 4th and 5th High Score Overall. Dance Visions team number received a Platinum Award and 1st High Score Overall for a Novice Group, choreographed by Kelly Alvarez, owner and director of Dance Visions Performing Arts Center.

In the Petite Division Suzie Elias and Derek Wade received a Platinum Award and 1st Overall High Score Duo as well as the judges’ “Fred & Ginger” award. Lauren George and Corinne Novotny received a Gold Award and 5th Overall High Score Duo and Casey Huber received a Platinum Award and 3rd Overall High Score Solo. Gold Scores were received by Kendal Ferris and Austin Brooks and Kendal Ferris for their duo. Dance Visions mini-team received a Gold Award and 1st High Score Overall for a Petite Large Group.

Winning 1st Overall High School Production Number, Director’s Choice Award and Overall Entertainment Award was “Grease,” choreographed by Joan Elias and performed by Lauren George, Kendal Ferris, Casey Huber, Corinne Novotny, Suzie Elias, Lexi Brooks, Meredith Grasso, Casey Simon, Jillian Dauscher, Alexis Arens, Jenna Fragola, Riana Cerceo, Jillian Raney, Ali Dauscher, Jessica Wahl, Austin Brooks, Derek Werle, Jess Latta, Trevor Fairbank, T.J. Kolesnik and Dino Elias.

In the Junior Division, Riana Cerceo and Dino Elias received a Platinum Award, lst Overall High Score Duo, Overall High Score Junior Division, National Dance Team Award and $100 for their tap number choreographed by Sharie Jones. Cerceo and Elias also received a Platinum Award and 4th Overall High School Duo and the judge’ choice “Ultra Sassy Award.” This talented duo also received a Platinum Award. The trio of sisters, Carleigh, Ali and Jillian Dauscher, received a Platinum Award. Receiving Gold Awards in the Junior Solo Division were Jillian Dauscher, Meredith Grasso and Riana Cerceo. Cerceo also received 2nd Overall High Score Solo and a National Dance Team Award. In the Junior Group Division, a Platinum Award was received for a whimsical tap number as well as receiving 5th Overall High Score Junior Group.

In the Senior Division, Kaitlin Potnick received a Gold Award, 3rd Overall High Score Senior Division and a National Dance Team Award. Gold Scores also were received by Jessica Wahl, Becca Lincoln and Kristina Betts; Becca Lincoln and Blake Bourne with their duo; and Becca Lincoln, Jessica Wahl and Maddie Feldman with their trio. Blake Bourne received a Silver Award for her solo.
