Day of golf to benefit South Lake Tahoe Cancer League
Golfers will descend on Tahoe Paradise Golf Course Thursday to play as many holes as possible — and it all will be for a good cause.
Sponsored by the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1632, and Harrah’s and Harveys Lake Tahoe, the annual Longest Day of Golf is a fundraiser for the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League.
This, the 13th iteration of the event, will take place June 21 at Tahoe Paradise Golf Course.
Tahoe Paradise donates use of the course for the golfers, who begin at sunup and play as many holes as they can until sundown. Last year’s golfers played over 135 holes and raised over $12,000 for the Cancer League.
The Moose Lodge is looking for donations to sponsor the golfers. Any member of the public, or any business, can donate to sponsor a particular golfer or the event in general. Pledges may be made at a set level, or per hole played.
The South Lake Tahoe Cancer League was founded nearly 40 years ago to help local cancer patients. The nonprofit is operated entirely by volunteers, with no paid staff.
The Cancer League provides transportation for cancer patients to their treatment at no charge to the family or the patient. The Cancer League also gives financial assistance grants to help the patients with a gift of funds to help with the cost of medications, or living expenses while the patient is fighting cancer.
Those interested in making a pledge fill out the pledge form and give it to the golfer of your choice, or return it to the Moose Lodge, attention Mary.
The Moose Lodge is open Monday through Friday from 2-8 p.m. Donations also can be made through the Cancer League Facebook page through the Shop Now PayPal button. Donors should state that their contribution is for this event.
