DC offers summer family concerts

The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department will host the Summer Family Concert Series from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Friday throughout the summer at the Minden Park Gazebo, Esmeralda and 5th streets. The concerts are free.

The concert series is a community and family event and everyone is encouraged to pack a picnic, relax in the Minden Park and enjoy an evening of music.

The July 13 concert will feature The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra performing popular classics and music of Broadway. The local musical group, now in its third year, is comprised of a dedicated group of amateur and professional musicians from all walks of life, including teachers, firefighters, secretaries, accountants, doctors, domestic managers, students and professional musicians, all under the expert baton of Danny Yale, conductor and musical director.

The concerts are offered free of charge because of the generous contributions of business and service groups in the community. Sponsors include Carson Valley Inn, Bently Nevada, Town of Minden, Minden Rotary Club, Stockdale Creative Marketing & Advertising, Coldwell Banker Itildo, Taylor York Salon, Syncon Homes, Carson Valley Sertoma, Stor-All, Re/Max Realty Affiliates and the Carson Valley Lions Club.
