Deadline approaching for NV Energy scholarship

Eligible Nevada high school seniors have less than a week left to apply for a scholarship through NV Energy’s Powerful Partnership Scholarship Program.
Students have until Wednesday, March 15, to apply for one of the one-time scholarships. The application can be found here.
Only Nevada high school seniors and students at Truckee Meadows Community College and Great Basin Community College can be awarded a scholarship. To be eligible, students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, be able to prove participation in community service activities and have plans to attend an accredited post-secondary institution.
The program, administered by the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, offers $1,000 scholarships to students based on the selection criteria and number of applications received. It aims to help support the attainment of higher education for northern Nevada students. The scholarships can be used at any accredited university, college or trade school.
Since the program’s inception in 2000, NV Energy has awarded nearly $1.76 million in scholarships to students statewide. In 2016, $49,000 in scholarships was awarded to 20 high school seniors and community college students in northern Nevada.
Scholarship recipients will be invited to an award ceremony in Reno in May.
