Glam rock inspired by a band from across the pond, but created in the Bay Area, will fill Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe’s Friday.
Lef Deppard, a tribute to Def Leppard, performs Friday night in the casino’s Vinyl music venue.
“Lef Deppard plays classic recordings from the 80’s Hard-Rock/Glam/Pop-Metal British Icons Def Leppard,” according to the band’s online biography. “From the extreme bending notes of the Clark/Willis early years to the high-flying guitar solos of Phil Collen on ‘Pyromania,’ to the extremities of Genius Mutt Lange’s epic production of ‘Hysteria,’ Northern California has been long overdue to re-live and pay tribute to the boys from Sheffield.
“Born in 2013, on a summer night at St. James Gate, it was only fitting that premier Bay Area Tribute drummer veteran Mike Carlington (Destroyer, Duran Duran Duran) and lead vocalist Ronaldo Vezzali (Rock On Broadway) immediately hit it off and started a discussion that evening that led to Lef Deppard being born, Northern California’s very first Def Leppard Tribute band. ‘Excitable’ as that evening was, soon to follow would be Rock On Broadway’s guitar virtuoso Matt Leyes as Phil Collen, Darren Brooks (Riff Raff), doubling as Steve ‘Steamin’ Clarke and the rock-solid low end grooves of Jesse Scott (Hot For Teacher, Rock Skool). Claiming that ‘High n’ Dry was my Led Zeppelin IV of the 80’s,’ Jesse solidified the group.”
