Services will be Sept. 17 for Dennis Michael Patrick Duffy, Napa Valley resident, who died suddenly on the golf course in Lake Tahoe on Sept. 10. He was 59 years old.

Duffy was born December 20, 1947 in St. Helena, Calif. He graduated from Napa Senior High School in 1966, and the University of San Francisco in 1970 with a BA degree in Economics. Following college, he moved to Lake Tahoe. Duffy was best known for his work at River Ranch Restaurant & Lodge in Napa, CA.

In the ’70s, Duffy returned to Napa. He got involved in the wine industry and even produced a private label DD shared with family and friends. He oversaw and maintained the Duffy Christmas Tree Farm, originally started by his father.

Recently, he went to work as a mortgage broker with Investor’s Trust Mortgage. With his primary home in Yountville and his second home in Lake Tahoe, he enjoyed a full life in these beautiful places. He was reacquainted with his college love Nancy Collins Kelly six years ago, to whom he was recently engaged.

Dennis is predeceased by his parents, Owen M. Duffy, Ann L. Duffy and brother-in-law Dennis Mordecai. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Duffy Mordecai; his niece Kathleen “Katie” Mordecai; and his fiancée, Nancy Collins Kelly; and her daughters Erin and Alison.

Funeral mass will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church in Yountville, Calif., a celebration of life at the River City Restaurant in Napa immediately following. Donations may be made in his honor to Hospice of Napa Valley, 414 South Jefferson St., Napa, CA 94559. Arrangements are by Claffey and Rota Funeral Home in Napa.
