Derby is outpacing Heller in campaign fundraising
October 15, 2008
WASHINGTON – Democrat Jill Derby has out-raised Republican incumbent Dean Heller during the most recent fundraising period in Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District.
Derby, the former state Democratic Party chairwoman, raised nearly $349,000 from July 24 through Sept. 30. First-term Rep. Heller raised about $202,000 in the same period.
But Heller still ended up with a cash advantage going into the final weeks of the Nov. 4 rematch. He had $406,000 cash on-hand as of Sept. 30 compared with about $245,000 for Derby.
Fundraising reports were filed Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission.
