Diabetes Expo at LTCC this weekend

Barton HealthCare System Diabetes Educational Services will present a Diabetes Expo that will focus on diabetes issues from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The expo will take place in the Lake Tahoe Community College Commons Area, One College Drive.

The event will include guest speakers, booths, diabetes information, free diabetes screening, free blood pressure checks, free foot exams and a raffle.

The schedule of guest speakers and their topics are:

10:15 to 11:15 a.m. – “Taking Charge of Your Diabetes” will be presented by Claude Lardinois, MD, FACP, FACN, professor of medicine, University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine.

11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. – “Diabetes Care During Disaster Conditions: Are You Ready?” by Vicki J. McKenna, MS, RN, CDE, diabetes program manager for Barton HealthCare System.

1:15 to 2:30 p.m. – “Know Your Nutrition” by Lynn Norton, registered dietitian at Barton HealthCare System. Sponsored by Bayer Healthcare.
