District to name watershed coordinator

The California Tahoe Resource Conservation District plans to hire its watershed coordinator by the second week in March.

The district was awarded a $69,000 state grant to pay for the coordinator who will study the Upper Truckee River.

District project manager Tim Oliver said 24 people applied for the job at the end of January. There are six finalists with public speaking experience, knowledge of watershed management planning and a background of software and grant writing.

The grant will pay for the coordinator’s salary, computer and office expenses.
