Dog assisted reading practice expanding

MEYERS, Calif. – Beginning May 18, elementary school age students and their parents can drop in for a fun, relaxed reading experience at Bona Fide Books after school from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. at 1069 Magua Street, behind the Getaway Cafe.

Developed and sponsored by the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A., “My Reading Buddy” program has been popular at the Tahoe Boys & Girls Club and at the South Tahoe Public Library for over three years.

Each session, four children enjoy an individual 15-minute reading period with a canine listener and a tutor. Age appropriate books are provided and there is no charge. For more information, contact Liz Maul, Outreach and Education Manager at the Lake Tahoe Humane Society and S.P.C.A. at 530-542-2857.
