Donald Joseph Harrison


Donald Joseph Harrison died April 27, 2006, in Citrus Heights, Calif., due to complications from diabetes, congestive heart failure and pulmonary disease. He was 75.

Don was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Seattle, Wash., and lived in South Lake Tahoe from 1972 to1982. He opened the first Prudential Insurance office in South Lake Tahoe and also worked for the Tahoe Daily Tribune. A devout Catholic, he taught adult religious education classes and was the director for 20 years at St. Mel’s Catholic Church in Fair Oaks, Calif. He helped by bringing people and families back to the church.

He is survived by his wife, Trish; children, Douglas, Donna Lee, Theresa, Steven, Mary, Kathleen, Charlene and Carol; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He will be solely missed by anyone he came in contact with.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. and a Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday, all at St. Mel’s Catholic Church, 4745 Pennsylvania Ave. in Fair Oaks.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Loaves and Fishes, 1321 North C St., Sacramento, CA 95812 or Bishop Gallegos Maternity Home, P.O. Box 305, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
