Doolittle resolution acknowledges California firefighters

Rep. John T. Doolittle, R-Roseville, announced his support of a bi-partisan resolution to recognize the severity of the recent California fires, the magnitude of the response, and to stand with those impacted.

“A lot of our residents have been devastated this year by the impacts of fires all throughout the state and most recently in Southern California. Earlier this summer, Angora, Tahoe, Truckee and the northern part of my district all dealt with catastrophic wildfires.

“Even though the physical damage and loss have been enormous to the state, our firefighters and emergency crews have displayed incredible bravery and kept the loss of life and injuries to persons minimal. We are all so thankful for their efforts, and this resolution rightfully recognizes them for their heroic deeds and hard work,” Doolittle said Monday.

The resolution passed with overwhelming support on a 409-0 vote.

Doolittle’s district includes El Dorado County and the Lake Tahoe portion of the county. The congressman has been critical of some forest thinning efforts, particularly in stream zone areas dense with underbrush, where it is believed the Angora fire was able to spread.
