Douglas County Historical Society to put on ‘Curse of the Hanging Tree’

The Douglas County Historical Society will bring back “The Curse of the Hanging Tree” this weekend.

The play is based on an actual event that took place in Carson Valley more than 100 years ago. The play is a living history spoof on the most infamous lynching in Nevada history. The event serves as fundraiser for the society and was last performed in 2008

Performances will take place July 19 and 20, with three performances each night. Tickets cost $15 per person. Advanced tickets are recommended as seating is limited. The historical society has partnered with Tombstone Tap & Grill in Genoa, so participants will receive a 10 percent off food coupon with every ticket. Tickets are available at the Carson Valley Museum in Gardnerville.
