Applications are now being accepted for participation in Leadership Douglas County 1999.

Leadership Douglas County is a community program designed to develop informed, involved and knowledgeable community leaders for Douglas County. The program attempts to aid class members in developing a sense of ownership, trust, responsibility and commitment to the common good.

“This is an excellent program and I encourage anyone who wants to know more about Douglas County to apply,” said program chairman Mike Riley.

The class meets one day each month, beginning with a Jan. 13 orientation. The cost is $550, including class materials, special activities, meals and a graduation dinner and reception.

Scholarships are available to qualified participants. For an additional fee, participants can also earn Western Nevada Community College credits.

Leadership Douglas County is a joint project of the Carson Valley and Tahoe-Douglas Chambers of Commerce.
