Douglas hands Vikings first swimming defeat

South Tahoe High swimmers Francisco Marin, Luca Genasci and David Wise combined four races against Douglas last Wednesday, but the Tigers outstroked the Vikings 175-104 in Minden.

It was the STHS boys’ first defeat in four Zephyr League meets.

Marin, a sophomore, won the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 6.69 seconds and claimed first place in the 200 individual medley in 2:11.01. Genasci captured the top spot in the 500 free (5:16.91), while Wise placed first in the 200 free (1:59.83).

The Tigers swept first in three relay races and collected additional points in 1-meter diving to distance themselves from the Vikings.

Douglas dominated the girls’ meet, winning 220-66.

South Tahoe was led by Clara Stewart placing second in 100 breaststroke (1:20.37) and third in 50 free (29.25).

The Vikings are idle this week and will participate in the Zephyr League meet April 24 in Minden.
