Douglas Rotary plans St. Pat’s wine tasting
February 7, 2003
The Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club will host its 35th annual St. Patrick’s Day Wine Tasting and Corned Been Feed starting at 6 p.m. March 15. It is the best Irish party of the year and a true Lake Tahoe tradition. This lively fund-raiser will take place at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe special events center and everyone is invited to come and join in the fun.
Everyone who attends will have an opportunity to savor a complete Irish buffet dinner featuring corned sirloin beef and cabbage with all the trimmings, sample generous pours of premium California wine from 12 different wineries and enjoy music and dancing by JJ Entertainment. It’s a full evening of St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
The event features an incredible silent auction with more than accommodation packages to cities across the United States and Puerto Rico. Some of the fabulous destinations featured are Hawaii, San Francisco, Napa Valley, San Diego, La Jolla, Santa Monica, Scottsdale, Denver and Orlando. Other great prizes include skis, snowboards, full season ski passes for local ski resorts, golf packages at Edgewood, Genoa Lakes and Sierra Nevada, jet ski rentals, parasail and hot air balloon rides, artwork and more than 50 local dining certificates. There also will be raffle prizes featuring local restaurants and retailers.
The St. Patrick’s Day Wine Tasting is the club’s major fund-raiser to provide for college scholarships and donations to local nonprofit organizations. Last year, the proceeds from the wine tasting allowed the club to donate $12,000 in academic scholarships to 10 local high school seniors and another $15,000 to local community programs that benefit everyone at Lake Tahoe.
The ticket donation is $40 each and reserved tables of 10 are available for $400. Seating is guaranteed but people are encouraged to get tickets early because this great party is always a sell out. Tickets may be purchased from any Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club member or at the following locations: Lakeside Inn & Casino cashier cage, the East Shore Digest in Round Hill Mall, Colonial Bank on Kingsbury Grade, Wells Fargo Bank on Highway 50 in Stateline, Selective Accommodations and Hot Spring Spas on Highway 50 at Elks Point Road. Tickets also are available by calling the ticket chairman Peter Guilfoyle at (775) 588-4176.
