DUI patrols planned through the weekend
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – South Lake Tahoe police will hold roving drunken driver patrols this weekend as part of a Memorial Day enforcement effort by the “Avoid the 6 DUI Campaign,” said Sgt. Shannon Laney in a statement.
The extra patrols will start Friday and continue through Monday, Laney said. The California Highway Patrol will also deploy 80 percent of available officers onto freeways and county roads in their jurisdiction beginning 6 p.m. Friday through midnight Monday, Laney said.
The law enforcement agencies involved in the campaign encourage party hosts to prevent guests from drinking to excess, designate a sober driver and report drunk drivers by calling 911.
