” Kahle Community Center is offering free day passes on Earth Day, April 22, to anyone who uses a carpool, takes the bus, walks or rides a bike to get to the center that day. For more information call (775) 586-7271.
” The city of South Lake Tahoe will host a “Conversation on Climate Action” on Wednesday.
“Join your fellow community members to discuss the steps we can take to reduce our carbon footprints and implement sustainable practices in our businesses and homes,” reads a flier for the event.
The meeting is a part of a national effort to raise awareness about the threats posed by global climate change.
More than 70 cities across the county will hold similar meetings on Earth Day, according to the National Conversation on Climate Action Web site.
The session will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on April 22 at the city’s Recreation and Swim complex gymnasium at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

” The Sierra Nevada Alliance will hold a Earth Day Celebration Happy Hour at the Fremont Bistro and Wine Bar on April 22.
The event will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and will include Tapas specials and happy hour prices, according to a statement from the Alliance.
The bistro is at 1041 Fremont Ave., below the Tudor Pub.
” The Tahoe Arts Project presents The Adrian Xavier Band at Lake Tahoe Community College’s Duke Theater at 7 p.m. on April 24.
The band seeks to “raise awareness about the environment through music,” according to an e-mail from the arts project.
Cost for the show is $10 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for kids. Tickets are available at both the California and Nevada visitors centers and tickets, if available, will be sold at the door beginning at 6 p.m. the day of the show.

” The parking lot at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa will again be the site of the South Lake Tahoe Earth Day Festival on April 25.
The event will include food, live music, local crafts and education booths.
A special KidZone will feature story time, face painting, hands-on activities and a bounce house, with a kid’s eco-costume parade starting at 1 p.m.
A raffle will occur at 3 p.m. and bicycle mechanics will be on hand for tune ups. People are encouraged to bring clothes and children’s books for the clothes/book swap.
The free festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. MontBleu is at 55 Highway 50 in Stateline.
