Education foundation presents fund-raiser

The Douglas County Education Foundation will present “London Times” the foundation’s 15th annual Festival of Food and Fun from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Caesars Tahoe.

More than $400,000 has been raised through the foundation’s major fund-raising event of the year. Funds have provided nearly 400 grants to Douglas County schools for a wide range of projects, including math, science and technology, career and occupational education, special education, fine and performing arts and language arts.

Donated by Harrah’s, this year’s festival grand prize is a five-night stay at the Plaza on Hyde Park Hotel in London. The grand prize package includes airfare for two and airport transportation.

Tickets are $50 per person and are available from the Tahoe-Douglas and Carson Valley chambers of commerce, Douglas County Library, Douglas County Education Foundation Trustees and online at http://www./dced.org. Tickets will be available at the door. For information call (775) 588-0757, 586-8291 or 267-4499.

The education foundation, established in 1984, is a community-based, nonprofit, tax exempt organization. The foundation’s volunteer board of directors includes members from both Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe. The foundation provides grants to educators for curriculum enhancement, awarding academic scholarships and recognizing outstanding teaching.
