Elda M. Brown
Memorial services will take place Oct. 15 for Elda Marie Brown, who died Oct. 8, 2007, at her home in South Lake Tahoe.
Elda was born April 3, 1931, in Hebron, N.D. She moved to Stockton, Calif., with her family in 1941, and graduated from Stockton High School in June 1948.
A graduate of San Francisco State College, she received a teaching credential in June 1954, and taught first grade at Live Oak School in Lodi, Calif.
Elda moved to South Lake Tahoe in August 1959, where she taught first, second and third grades for Lake Tahoe Unified School District. She retired in 1985 after 30 years of teaching.
Elda married Robert Brown Dec. 9, 1978. She was an avid skier and taught skiing. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and using her computer and she and her husband liked to travel, especially in their motor home.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Brown of South Lake Tahoe; sister, Auline Boriack of Sacramento, Calif.; brother, William Brecht of Golden Valley, N.D.; stepson, Scott Brown of Carson City, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Cecelia Brecht; and brother, James Brecht.
Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Oct. 15 at McFarlane Mortuary, 887 Emerald Bay Road. Inurnment will follow at Happy Homestead Cemetery, 1261 Johnson Blvd.
