Election filing deadline nears

The filing period for the Nov. 5 El Dorado County election is coming to a close.

The deadline for the South Lake Tahoe City Council race is Aug. 14. It’s Friday for the city treasurer and city clerk posts.

As of Wednesday afternoon, retired airport employee Gunnar Henrioulle, Verizon telecommunications executive Kathay Lovell, Viking Motor Lodge manager Pete Mac Roberts, newspaper carrier Stephen Reinhard and Chris Haven Mobile Home Park owner John Upton have filed for three city council seats.

Incumbent Hal Cole, Mayor Brooke Laine and Councilman Bill Crawford will vacate the seats.

Current treasurer Steve Wysong has also filed for his own seat.

Filing papers have been issued to Cole, painter Mark Cutright, auto Service Manager Michael Phillips for council, along with Assistant City Clerk Susan Alessi, who is running for the city clerk job to be vacated by clerk Angie Peterson.
