Elegant fund-raiser planned for May 13

Provided to the Tribune

Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra will present its 16th annual Elegant Evening fund-raiser on May 13 at the Horizon Casino Resort Convention Center.

The cost is $45 per person and the event will offer dinner, dancing to music by Arthur Hervey, unique “Elegant Bags,” raffle baskets and a silent auction. The club will continue its recent tradition of the piano bar in honor of the late Daphne Forte and Norma Poole, past members of the club. Put on your best smile, as “Elegant Photos” will be introduced.

The mission of Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra is to enhance the lives of youth and women in our community. We feel education is the best way to help young people and adults achieve success.

With your generous donations and attendance at our fund-raiser, we are able to support many projects in the community, which include:

— The On Your Way Award, given to young readers who are improving their literacy skills;

— The Summer Reading Program, which provides a new book for the summer to all students in kindergarten through eighth grade in the LTUSD, St. Theresa, Zephyr Elementary and Kingsbury Middle schools;

— Most Improved Awards to Middle School students;

— Annual scholarships awarded to both high school and college students.
