Elks provide Thanksgiving dinners

Submitted to the Tribune

Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge provided Thanksgiving dinners for 26 families who are clients of Live Violence Free.

The dinners included turkeys or hams, fresh vegetables, potatoes, rolls, stuffing, dessert and other items. A team of Elks and Live Violence Free personnel purchased and sorted the food for the families.

Live Violence Free of South Lake Tahoe is committed to promoting a violence-free community through education and advocacy to address domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. The Elks provide food for its clients through an IMPACT grant provided by the Elks National Foundation, which is headquartered in Chicago.

In addition to the Thanksgiving dinners, the Elks provide sack lunches, emergency food pantry items and emergency food vouchers.
