Elvira R. Osti


Services will take place Wednesday for Elvira Rose Cervantes Valenzuela Osti, who died of renal cancer Oct. 12, 2007, at South Lake Tahoe.

Elvira was born Sept. 15, 1927, in Yorba Linda, Calif., and had been a resident of South Lake Tahoe since 1985. She married Alexander Osti on Nov. 10, 1949.

Elvira was a sixth generation Californian and her family was the recipient of both Spanish and Mexican Land Grants within California. Her great-grandfather was one of the founders of Pasadena, Calif., and her grandfather was one of the founders and the first mayor of Yorba Linda, Calif. She was the mother of Margo Osti, a former mayor of South Lake Tahoe. Elvira was responsible for always decorating the house on Glenwood Way for each and every holiday. A homemaker, Elvira had also worked at Kmart and Raley’s and was a major campaign supporter for her daughter.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Alexander Osti; daughter, Margo Osti; son and daughter-in-law, Lamont and Constance Osti; and grandsons, Adam and Eric Osti.

Services will take place Wednesday at Mc Farlane Mortuary, 887 Emerald Bay Road. Viewing will be at 10 a.m., Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. and Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at noon at Happy Homestead Cemetery.
