Embassy Suites receives a check for green initiatives
November 20, 2009
Representatives of Nevada Energy’s Sure Bet Program presented a check for $27,720.20 to the Embassy Suites Lake Tahoe – Hotel & Ski Resort for their continued efforts in reducing their energy consumption by nearly one million kilowatt hours so far in 2009.
The property began their sustainability efforts early in 2009 with small adjustments that produced noticeable savings. After each step created a quantifiable Return on Investment, the property began taking larger steps to produce larger savings.
To date, the Embassy Suites Lake Tahoe has completed more than twenty cost saving, carbon footprint reducing, and environmentally friendly initiatives to the operational infrastructure. The property can produce “Zero Waste Meetings” for all group programs that visit.
The Embassy Suites brand has also recognized the properties efforts by presenting David Hansen, Embassy Suites Director of Engineering, the coveted “Spirit of Pride” award for his efforts for being the brand leader in sustainability and his personal drive to participate in the local community and assist the “Green Business Coalition” and other local businesses.
