Emily Kaydee Clothier was born October 20, 1993, in Murrieta, Calif. She and her family moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1999, where she has since resided. Emily passed away on March 20 2008, due to a tragic skiing accident at Heavenly Ski Resort.

Emily was a freshman at South Tahoe High School, where in addition to enjoying her studies, she was an avid athlete. She was on the cross-country running team, the state championship Alpine Ski Team, enjoyed all water sports, and loved to dance. She was an eight-year member of the Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation as a second year J3 Alpine racer. Though she competed in all four disciplines in the Far West division, downhill was her favorite.

Emily accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 2005. She had an infectious personality that impacted her friends, family, classmates, and most everyone who came in contact with her. Emily blessed us for 14 years, touching the lives of so many, and to say that she will be greatly missed is a huge understatement – she is irreplaceable. We will miss you Emmie, but we can’t wait to see you again.

She is survived by her parents Patti and Steve, and little sister, Mikaella of South Lake Tahoe; sister, Lyndsay; brother, Scott and his wife Dana; grandparents, Bob and Lavonne Crist; uncle, David Crist and his wife Shelby; and cousins, Robby and Thomas Crist, all of Orange County, Calif. Also, grandparents, Jack and Carol Clothier of Miami Fla.; uncle, Chris Clothier and his wife Diane, uncle, Pete Clothier and his wife Susan, and uncle, Mike Clothier; aunt, Lori and her husband Arndt Brevik; nieces, Emma and Claire Clothier; and nephews, Karl, Cody, and Eric Brevik, all of Colorado; plus far too many loving and caring friends to list.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering for all to attend on Friday, March 28 at 6 p.m., at Sierra Community Church, 1165 Sierra Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to benefit the Emily Clothier Memorial Fund. Make checks payable to Bank of the West, 2161 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. The Emily Clothier Memorial Fund will be used to perpetuate the future development of junior ski racing in South Lake Tahoe.
