The Proscenium Players will present “Romeo & Juliet” at 8 p.m. April 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26 at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St., Carson City. Christopher James directs the show.

This version sets Shakespeare’s play of two young lovers falling victim to family hatred in a timeless world, giving viewers of all backgrounds a strong introduction to the play.

Artist and designer Carol Foldvary-Anderson is one of 36 artists from throughout Nevada who will be showing at “Nevada: Wide Open,” through May 1.

Sierra Arts invited artists living within Nevada’s borders to submit original entries measuring precisely 2.5 by 3.5 inches for the juried art show. This is the sixth installment of the show, which began 14 years ago. Visiting guest artist MaLynda Poulsen-Jones judged the entries.

Director Norris Edson will present “Sounds of Broadway,” an original musical revue he wrote, at 7 p.m. April 3-5 and at 11 a.m. April 6 in the Shannon Ballroom of the Carson Valley Inn in Gardnerville.

The evening event will include a three-course dinner, and there will be a full-course champagne brunch April 6. Tickets for the dinner and brunch shows are $45 general admission and $42 for students and seniors 60 and older. Tickets for the opening-night performance only, no dinner, are $13 general and $10 for students and seniors.

The Lake Tahoe branch of the Douglas County Public Library will celebrate Children’s Book Week on April 17 with a special storytime. The event will begin at 11 a.m. at the library, 233 Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove.

Children may bring a favorite library book or book from home to the library, and Miss Carol will read the books for all to enjoy. All ages are welcome.
