Exciting night of dance comes to Montbleu

Staff Reports

The 17th annual Spring Concert of the Academy of Dance Arts will be presented in the MontBleu Theatre inside in MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21, at 6 p.m.

“Last year the studio presented “Classical with a Twist,” a ballet with no story line and no good versus evil. Just pop songs that are played classically,” explains Kelly O’Fallon, owner and director of The Academy of Dance Arts.

There was such a wonderful reception after last year’s show, O’Fallon said, that the academy decided to add to it with this year’s “Classically a Little More Twisted.”

“Because the music isn’t traditional classical music, some of the dances are a little edgier, a little jazzier,” O’Fallon said. “Once again it has been fun to mix it up a little and give the performers a variety of styles of dance to challenge and help them grow in their continuing dance education.”

After a brief intermission, the show will continue with the jazz and tap portion of the show.

“Once again, we have chosen music from all different genres; popular to obscure and everything in between. There is a little something for everyone. There is such an abundance of talent in the studio, and for two nights in May, all that talent is displayed beautifully by each and every student, teacher, and choreographer affiliated with The Academy of Dance Arts,” O’Fallon said. “We hope you will come join us for a lovely and entertaining evening of dance.”
