Expert to dissect global warming

Global warming — science versus wishful thinking — will be the topic at the next meeting of the Squaw Valley Institute.

The institute, founded in April to promote art, culture and education, will host Richard Somerville, an expert on global warming at the Resort at Squaw Creek on Nov. 22.

Somerville, a professor of meteorology at Scripps Institute of Oceanography at UC San Diego, will present an overview of the climate change issue using the latest research results.

The meeting will be the third such gathering for the institute, which last month hosted Charles Goldman, a professor at UC Davis, who spoke about water quality.

The talk will start at 7:30 p.m., with a no-host bar opening at 6:45 p.m. Tickets will only be available at the door for $10 , $5 for students with I.D.
