Expo will spotlight green businesses

Sara Thompson

Green will be the focus of next week’s Tahoe Business Expo.

Attendees will learn about local green services and products at the expo. The event also will provide a Green University, with speakers addressing topics relating to business and the environment.

Scott Terrell of Sierra Green Building will be on hand to explain green business practices. Building practices also will be addressed by Peter Coates, a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes advocate for the United States Green Building Council Nevada Chapter. He will talk about categories of sustainability for homes, buildings and communities.

Other speakers include Christian Waskiemicz, owner and roastmaster of Alpen Sierra Coffee, who will talk about the importance of sustainably grown coffee. Also, Carlo Muri of Bently Biofuels will speak about biofuels and renewable biological fuel sources.

The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. March 21 at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce members receive two free tickets to the event, and for nonchamber members, admission is $10.
