Fall fun runs get going Saturday

Fall events highlight safe Halloween activities for youth and fun fitness.

The City of South Lake Tahoe and the Tahoe Tri Club will kick off a series of fun runs this weekend.

The second annual Tahoe’s Freakin’ Fun Run will be held on Saturday at the community playfields located at 1300 Al Tahoe Blvd., next to Lake Tahoe Community College.

The Turkey Trot follows at 10 a.m. Nov. 22 at Bijou Community Park and the Jingle Jog concludes the series of runs at 10 a.m. Dec. 13 at the playfields.

This weekend’s run will begin at 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to dress in Halloween attire. Prizes will be awarded for best and most ridiculous costume.

Registration for the Freakin’ Fun Run 5K starts at $29. The kids fun run is $10.

South Lake Tahoe will also host the 13th annual Treat Street on Oct. 31 at Lake Tahoe Airport, 1901 Airport Road.

All trick-or-treaters are invited to the free evening of fun and games from 5-8 p.m. There will be a haunted house, a bounce house, live radio broadcasts and other special events, according to a press release from the city.
